Help Cats Find Their Forever Homes

Help Cats Find Their Forever Homes

Cat rescues and shelters across the UK are filled with cats waiting to be adopted and re-homed. Some of the cats in these shelters take a bit of extra time to find the right family. Whether it’s a young, playful kitten or an older cat looking for a second chance, we know every cat can be matched up with the perfect home. And we want to help.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with The Scratching Post Cat Rescue to help more cats find their forever homes.

The Scratching Post Cat Rescue

Based in Waltham Abbey and operating in North London, Essex and Hertfordshire, The Scratching Post shelter was founded in 2004 by Susan Delaney. With the aim of ensuring that no cat is ever kept in unsuitable accommodation while it’s waiting for a new home.

Twenty years later, the shelter now has seven buildings. Which house about 90 cats and kittens at any given time. With an isolation unit, maternity unit, kitten unit, feral unit and long term resident unit. Plus units for cats who are ready to be rehomed.

All cats at The Scratching Post are vet-checked, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and given any other veterinary treatment before they’re rehomed. They’re also neutered. (Once they’re old enough.) And they’re microchipped on adoption.

What you can do to help The Scratching Post

The Scratching Post relies heavily on its team of volunteers. And it's only means of funding is via voluntary contributions.

So how can you help? If you’re not currently in a position to adopt a cat, there are lots of other ways that you can support The Scratching Post. Like monetary donations, sponsoring a cat, or donating blankets, sheets and towels.

You can also view their Amazon Wishlist to see items needed for the cats and kittens currently in their care.

Looking to welcome a new cat into your home? Contact the shelter to enquire and find the right cat for you.
